Community Events

One of my great joys is to design an event for a group or community that brings people into connection with each other.  This is often designed around a particular cause of social justice and equality.  I love to design experiences that take individuals and pieces of creativity and bring those together to create a larger whole.  Below are some examples of previous events.  Contact me if you would be interested in a creative experience for your group, cause or event.

PRAYERS FOR PEACE MANDALA

This mandala was created at a community event exploring the mandala and labyrinth.  A community peace mandala was created by people writing their prayers for peace on colored paper and filling in the outlined mandala on the floor. This brought the energy of all the individual prayers into a whole unified mandala. - Charlotte, NC

WOMAN'S JOURNEY MANDALA

This mandala was created during a woman's gathering focused on the woman's jouney.  Each participant created their own section of the whole mandala which represented their own journey.  Once each individual section was complete, they were assembled to create the whole mandala.  Boone, NC

MAKE A NOISE! BUILDING HOPE.

Make a Noise! was an event at Urban Ministries in Charlotte, NC.  Urban Ministries serves our neighbors without homes, providing numerous services including daily lunches.  We gathered on a Saturday with pizzas, a live band, bottles of water, and snacks for backpacks, to have a day of creating together.  Wood scrapes, hammers, nails and paint were supplied and the directions were to let your imagination go, build something and make a noise!  Ages ranged from 6 to 60's and everyone enjoyed building and playing together!

CELEBRATING DIVERSITY

We came together to celebrate diversity of culture and faith.  The adults shared creative activities, we ate together and I worked with the children to create mandalas and masks.

CASTLES AND DRAGONS!

While moms were having a program and fun of their own, the kids in the "Families in Transition" program at the YMCA had a great time making a cooperative castle out of boxes and colorful ducktape.  Then we created a wall mural with the dragons that each child made.  Creating and cooperating was the theme of the evening!

CELEBRATING OUR WOUNDS AND OUR GIFTS

After working with our wounds and our gifts for a weekend, the Intentional Living Community built a community mandala made of the wounds and gifts of each individual.  Charlotte, NC
